Microsoft Office 365 is gaining significant momentum and growth. If you’re an iPhone user and have adopted Office 365, you’ll need to know how to synchronise your Office 365 mailbox with your phone. This small instructional text explains how.
Firstly navigate through your iPhone’s Settings to Mail, Contacts, Calendars; then choose “Add Account”. Select the option marked Microsoft Exchange. You’ll be prompted to type your Office 365 info: Enter your email, user name and password, but leave the Domain part blank. If your phone asks for the “server name”, type in “m.outlook.com”. This will generally allow the settings to be picked up and your iPhone should automatically complete the connection.
If “m.outlook.com” doesn’t work for your server name, you must fill in your settings manually. To find the information you need to set up manually, log into your Office 365 account on your web browser (https://portal.microsoftonline.com) and click Outlook (this will go to your Outlook Web App). Select “Options” (drop down box in top right corner), followed by “See All Options”, then click on the “Account” tab , then the My Account option. Click on “Settings for POP, IMAP, and SMTP Access…” hyperlink, and you’ll see a box showing the Server name. Copy the server name into your phone’s Server field, then hit Next on your iPhone. Your email, contacts list and calendar will now be synchronised automatically.
iPhone also offers you some advanced settings like how many days to keep email synchronised, whether to synchronised automatically or pushed to your phone manually when opening the email app. Be sure to check out those advanced set up features and configure the devices to specifically suite your needs.
